Altes Wissen verdrängt neues Wissen!
Im Anschluss folgte ein “‘Ääääääääh…WAS?!” :)
I don’t exactly know if this occurs on all distributions, for me – again – it’s Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex. Each time I wanted to start a KDE application (that’s mainly Amarok and Kile for me) the first time after I booted the system, it took maybe 20 seconds until it really started to load. This bugged me a bit as it makes you feel like the program isn’t starting at all first, then you click on it again and again and then suddenly there are three instances – nobody wants that ;) …KDE programs WILL load quickly after the first one has been properly started, though…but of course we also want the first application to be loaded quickly, too :)
This is all caused by the KDE libraries not being loaded at Gnome startup, so the simple solution is the following: Simply add “kdeinit” to be started with each Gnome session (go System/Preferences/Sessions and add it there). After that, everything should work fine and KDE applications should start just as quick as everything else.
